The Philadelphia Eagles recently engaged with a promising young talent in the quarterback position.
According to reports from Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report and The Draft Network, the Eagles were among the teams to have discussions with Davius Richard, a standout quarterback from North Carolina Central University.
Richard has commanded attention as a four-year starter for NCCU, coincidentally sharing the same team name as the Philadelphia Eagles. Since acquiring QB Jalen Hurts in the second round of the 2020 draft, the Eagles have primarily focused on other positions, with Tanner McKee being their lone QB selection in the sixth round of the 2023 draft.
Standing at an imposing 6’3″ and weighing 220 pounds, Richard possesses both size and impressive mobility. With four seasons under his belt at NC Central, he has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and a selfless team-first approach.
Renowned for his dual-threat capabilities, Richard boasts nearly 9,000 passing yards, 73 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions throughout his collegiate career, complemented by 2,026 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns at an average of 4.9 yards per carry.
Richard is slated to participate in the HBCU Legacy Bowl on February 24, an esteemed all-star event showcasing top talent from Historically Black Colleges and Universities preparing for the NFL draft. This platform will provide him with ample opportunity to display his skills and garner further attention from scouts and teams in the lead-up to the draft.
Scott Pioli, a former NFL executive with three Super Bowl victories with the New England Patriots, views Richard as an underrated prospect in the quarterback landscape for the upcoming 2024 draft.
