Could the Philadelphia Eagles be interested in adding another star to their stable of already impressive pass rushers? Perhaps a player like Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby?
The Eagles racked up 70 sacks last season, but they have been relatively tame in getting after the quarterback thus far in 2023, totaling six sacks through three games.
Of course, there is plenty of time for Philadelphia to right the ship, but why not just bring in another established pass rusher to make things easier?
Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby could present an interesting solution.
The Raiders are 1-2 and don’t seem to be primed to contend for much of anything this season. Their quarterback situation is iffy, and they don’t appear a whole lot different than they did last year when they went just 6-11.
As a result, Las Vegas could end up being a seller at the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.
Crosby still has two years remaining on his deal, but the Raiders will owe him over $47 million across those two seasons. For a team that may need to do some roster retooling in the offseason, Crosby’s contract could end up being a deterrent.
The Eagles could offer the Raiders a 2024 first-round draft pick as well as a third-rounder, providing Las Vegas with some ripe draft assets while also allowing the Raiders to shed some salary.
Crosby, who played his collegiate football at Eastern Michigan, was originally selected by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
He is coming off of back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances, most recently racking up 89 tackles and 12.5 sacks in 2022. Through three games this season, Crosby has logged 15 tackles and two sacks.
Philadelphia may be 3-0, but its defense currently ranks 12th in the league. It may need to make an adjustment or two to ensure it can make it back to the Super Bowl for the second straight year.
