Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is no stranger to dealing with wide receiver drama, so George Pickens’ recent social media outburst meant very little to him.

Following a two-catch, negative-1 yards performance in the Steelers’ Week 9 win over the Tennessee Titans, Pickens posted “Free Me” on social media, removed all Steelers-related content from his Instagram and unfollowed Tomlin as well as quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Tomlin doesn’t seem affected.

“Like breathing, it’s easy,” he said when asked about the prospect of coaching a young player through adversity, via Kevin Patra of NFL media. “I know it’s a cute story for you guys, but it is a pebble in my shoe, to be quite honest with you, in terms of the things that I have to do in an effort to get this group ready to play this week. Our focus is on the Green Bay Packers and what we’re all going to do in this football game, and I can’t state it any plainer than that. It’s like reality television, the way you guys follow social media and write stories about it.”

Pickens’ tantrum is surely easy mode for Tomlin compared to what he had to deal with when Antonio Brown was a member of the team years ago.

Mike Tomlin added that he actually appreciates Pickens wanting a larger role.

“He wants to be significant. He wants to be a reason why we are successful,” he said. “Man, y’all don’t begrudge that. I want guys that want the football. I want guys who want to be central reasons of why we are successful. So, that’s a non-issue, to be quite honest with you.”

George Pickens has logged 30 catches for 521 yards and three touchdowns this season. He hauled in 52 receptions for 801 yards and four scores in his rookie campaign last year.

Pittsburgh is 5-3 and will host the Green Bay Packers this Sunday.
