Steelers’ Najee Harris Throws Major Shade At Mitchell Trubisky

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris is not exactly confident in Mitchell Trubisky’s ability to deliver at quarterback heading into Week 14.

The Steelers lost starting signal-caller Kenny Pickett to a sprained ankle this past weekend, clearing the way for Trubisky to start in Pittsburgh’s Thursday night matchup with the New England Patriots.

When asked about Trubisky’s leadership ability, Harris seemed unimpressed.

“It’s fine, I guess,” Harris said, via Steeler Nation. “Yeah, it’s fine.”

Harris, who seemed annoyed with the reporter’s question, was then asked to describe Trubisky’s leadership. His response was once again uninspiring.

“Vocal, I guess,” said Harris.

Trubisky actually played fairly well in relief of Pickett against the Arizona Cardinals, going 11-for-17 with 117 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers’ 24-10 loss.

Plus, it’s not like Pickett has exactly been lighting it up under center for Pittsburgh, so at worst, Trubisky won’t be a major downgrade.

Still, it is obviously pretty concerning that Harris does not seem all that enthralled with the idea of Trubisky starting this week. Surely, he is not the only player in the Steelers’ locker room who is not enthusiastic about Trubisky calling the shots against the Patriots.

Mitchell Trubisky is a former No. 2 overall pick who spent the first four seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears. He was a major disappointment with the Bears and made his way to the Buffalo Bills as a backup in 2021. He then joined Pittsburgh in 2022 and made four subpar starts in his debut season with the club.

The Steelers are now 7-5 and still hold a playoff spot in the rugged AFC. However, following their miserable loss to the Cardinals this past weekend, their margin for error is now very slim.

Najee Harris has rushed for 661 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry this season. He carried the ball 16 times for 63 yards against Arizona.
