The Las Vegas Raiders got off to a hot start in their Week 12 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. They opened up a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter and could have been up by more had Daniel Carlson not missed a short field goal attempt.

But, the lead was short-lived. By halftime, the Raiders lead had disappeared as the Chiefs scored a touchdown with 25 seconds remaining in the game to tie things up before halftime. Before Las Vegas knew it, they were trailing as Kansas City scored a touchdown on their first drive out of halftime.

The game was flipped on its head as the Chiefs scored a touchdown on three straight possessions and three out of four. It ultimately led to them winning the game 31-17, erasing a 14-point lead and winning the game by that same margin.

Understandably, there were some disappointed players in the Raiders locker room after the game. One of those players was Davante Adams, who did not hold back when commenting on the game. Some of what he said about the Chiefs raised some eyebrows as well.

“No disrespect to them, but it was more about what we were doing,” Adams told reporters in the locker room after the game. “We just didn’t really execute the way that we had been doing in a position to put some points on the board, so we just have to do a better job of sticking to the things that get us to that point.” (H/T AtoZ Sports)

That was the second consecutive loss for the Raiders, who are now heading into their bye week with a 5-7 record. They still have an outside chance of making a postseason run, but the odds are stacked against them given the circumstances they are facing.

With an interim head coach in Antonio Pierce leading the way, inexperience on the staff could be costing the teams. Pierce has the Raiders playing spirited football out of the gate, but they are struggling to sustain that success throughout games as opposing teams are adjusting.

That is part of what Adams could have been referencing with his quotes post game. There are a lot of people in positions they haven’t been in previously, so it is a learning experience for all of them.

Hopefully, they can figure some things out during their bye week to get back on the winning track. The Raiders need to be better in some areas and will be playing must-win games essentially every week once they return to the field.
