The Baltimore Ravens had a wonderful regular season. They went 13-4, not only earning the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the postseason in the AFC but had the best record in the NFL.

Unfortunately for the Ravens, it wasn’t enough to get them to a Super Bowl. Despite hosting an AFC Championship Game for the first time in franchise history, the team was unable to get past the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs won 17-10, taking full advantage of miscues the Ravens made throughout the game to advance to their fourth Super Bowl in five years. As a result, the offense has gotten underway in Baltimore earlier than they had hoped it would.

It has been a busy one already as the Ravens’ coaching staff has been poached by other teams around the NFL. Defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald was hired as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks and it would not be surprising if a few assistants followed him. Defensive line coach and associate head coach Anthony Weaver was hired by the Miami Dolphins to become their defensive coordinator.

Those are major positions the Ravens need to fill before even getting to work on their roster. Heading into the offseason, there aren’t any glaring needs on the roster. Some people will point to the offense needing more firepower as the team’s biggest need.

But, over at PFF, their mock draft simulator has pinpointed a pass rusher as being the team’s biggest need. Who could they look to target to fill that need? EDGE defender Bralen Trice out of Washington has been selected as the perfect fit to fill their need.

“Trice is a “disruption is production” kind of player. His sack totals over the last two years are relatively low compared to some of his peers, but his name is near the top of the list of total pressures forced. He has a frenetic pass-rush style, which has its pros and cons,” as shared by the PFF Big Board analysis.

Frenetic pass rush style sounds right up the alley of what the Ravens would be looking for in their defensive front. It would seem odd that a team that just racked up 60 sacks in the regular season would need help on the edge, but that is the case in Baltimore.

Their top three players in sacks, defensive tackle Justin Madubuike, Jadeveon Clowney and Kyle Van Noy are all hitting free agency this offseason. That is 31.5 sacks potentially leaving the Ravens’ defense in the coming weeks.

Adding an edge rusher such as Trice in the first round would make a lot of sense for the Ravens, especially if free agency doesn’t go their way. While they will do their best to retain their top players hitting the market, it is highly unlikely all of them will be back in the fold in 2024.
