Odell Beckham Jr. signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens last offseason, and during a recent appearance on The Punch Line Podcast with teammate Marlon Humphrey, Beckham revealed how it all went down.

Apparently, the sweepstakes came down to the Ravens and New York Jets, but Baltimore essentially forced Beckham’s hand by putting all of the pressure on him.

“In my heart, I was set to go back to New York and be a Jet,” Beckham Jr. told Humphrey. “Long story short, I remember getting the call over the weekend. They were like, ‘Hey, this is the Ravens. This our offer. What is it gonna take for you to not take that visit?’”

Well, turns out there really was no choice for Beckham.

“They said, ‘If you do get on that plane, just know the offer is off the table,'” added Beckham.

Beckham ended up signing with the Ravens, and it turned out to be the right move. The Jets didn’t even make the playoffs, while Baltimore finished with the best record in football and is currently awaiting its opponent for the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

The 31-year-old played in 14 games this season, logging 35 catches for 563 yards and three touchdowns. His best performance came in Week 11, when he finished with four catches for 116 yards in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Beckham, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the New York Giants with the 12th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He spent the first five years of his career with the Giants, making three trips to the Pro Bowl. He was then traded to the Cleveland Browns, where he spent two-and-a-half disappointing seasons before being waived midway through the 2021 campaign. He went on to sign with the Los Angeles Rams and helped the team win a Super Bowl that season.

Odell Beckham Jr. sat out all of 2022 while he recovered from a torn ACL.
