What Should Be Expected From Derrius Guice In 2020?

Hopefully, Guice will be able to shake off the injury bug that has troubled him the last two years. There is no question that he has big-time potential if he can stay on the field.

As the fans in Washington saw last season, Guice can turn in huge performances. Against the Carolina Panthers on December 1st, Guice carried the football 10 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns. The Redskins have a lethal threat on the ground, they just need him on the field.

Guice is just 23 years old, which gives him plenty of time to bounce back. He is expected to start at running back assuming he stays healthy. Some have even gone so far as to say that the Redskins could release Adrian Peterson with Bryce Love and Antonio Gibson on the roster.

So, without further delay, let’s take a look at what to expect from Guice this season.

ESPN has released projections for all offensive players league-wide. They don’t see a big season coming from Guice. At this point in time, they are projecting him to rack up 530 yards and four touchdowns on 125 carries.

However, we’re going to be a bit more favorable with our projections. It would be reasonable to expect around 650 yards and six touchdowns on 150+ carries.

Obviously, the Redskins wouldn’t be getting a workhorse running back in Guice with those projections. They would also be using Peterson and other running backs in different situations. But, it would be a big step forward.

Expect to see Guice take a step forward this season. He should stay relatively healthy, but the Redskins are going to be cautious with him.
