The Baltimore Ravens are a team to watch in trade talks for New York Jets running back Dalvin Cook, according to Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus.

The Jets signed Cook back in August with the general expectation that he would be a significant part of the offense this season.

Instead, Cook has been a relative non-factor, rushing for just 109 yards while averaging a meager 2.8 yards per carry through the club’s first six games. Meanwhile, second-year pro Breece Hall has taken over as New York’s clear No. 1 back.

As a result, Cook has been mentioned as a potential trade candidate ahead of the Oct. 31 deadline.

The Ravens are a run-heavy offense, but they are down a key cog in that area, as J.K. Dobbins is out for the season due to a torn Achilles. Baltimore has been employing Gus Edwards and Justice Hill as its top two halfbacks, and while both have done an admirable job, it could certainly use a versatile player like Cook in its backfield.

Cook, who played his collegiate football at Florida State, was originally selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He spent the first six years of his career with the Vikings, making four straight trips to the Pro Bowl between 2019 and 2022. One could argue that Cook would have went to the Pro Bowl every season with the club had he not torn his ACL four games into his rookie campaign.

Cook logged four straight 1,000-yard seasons during his Pro Bowl years, topping out at 1,557 yards in 2020. He also added 16 rushing touchdowns while catching 44 passes for 361 yards and a score that year.

Minnesota released him this past offseason in order to save some money, but based on his production from last season, it seemed evident that Cook had plenty of left in the tank.

You would never know that from his stats on the Jets, but it remains entirely possible that New York is simply not utilizing him properly.

Maybe the Ravens can get the very best out of Dalvin Cook.
