The Green Bay Packers are reportedly considering making another run at Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, a source tells the NFL Analysis Network.

“The Packers have been considering the option of talking with the Colts again about Jonathan Taylor,” the source said. “AJ Dillon hasn’t gotten the job done and they view Taylor as their long-term back. It’s certainly something to keep an eye on.”

The Packers previously held trade discussions with the Colts for Taylor last month, but talks did not get very far as Indianapolis maintained an extraordinarily high asking price.

However, with Taylor set to come off the PUP list in Week 5, Indy may now have more of a sense of urgency to move the star halfback, which may allow teams like Green Bay to reignite trade talks.

A report surfaced earlier this week that Taylor still does not want to play for the the Colts, as the club declined to give the 24-year-old a contract extension going into the season, prompting him to ask for a trade. Apparently, Indianapolis still has no intention of extending Taylor.

With the University of Wisconsin product currently set to be a free agent come springtime, the Colts may ultimately have no choice but to move him if they don’t plan on paying him.

Indianapolis had been asking for a first-round draft pick—or a package equivalent to a first-rounder in overall value—in return for Taylor, but the team may now be decreasing its demands.

Green Bay is coming off of an ugly 34-20 Thursday night loss to the Detroit Lions in which the club’s halfbacks amassed 29 rushing yards. Aaron Jones, who was just returning from a hamstring injury, carried the ball five times for 18 yards, while AJ Dillon went for just 11 yards on five attempts.

The Packers dropped to 2-2 but are very much alive in the NFC North race. Bringing Jonathan Taylor into the fold would certainly increase their chances of winning the division.
