The Green Bay Packers are interested in trading for a wide receiver before the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
This does not come as much of a surprise, as the Packers entered the season with a pretty clear need in their receiving corps.
While Green Bay employs a rather intriguing stable of young receivers, the club does not really have any proven wide outs on its roster. That has certainly made life more difficult for young quarterback Jordan Love, who is still trying to navigate his way through his first season as the full-time starter.
The question is, where can the Packers look for a receiver?
The New York Jets dealt Mecole Hardman to the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this year, so that’s one potential name off the board (not that Hardman would have been incredibly impactful for Green Bay anyway).
Perhaps the Packers could look to the Denver Broncos, who they just happen to have lost to in Week 7. The Broncos have a pair of receivers in Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy that many are expecting them to consider moving before the end of the month, and while neither guy is a bonafide No. 1 wideout, they would both represent upgrades over what Green Bay currently has.
The New England Patriots also have some receivers who could potentially draw the Packers’ interest, namely JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kendrick Bourne. Or maybe Green Bay will look at Hunter Renfrow, who has been a forgotten man in the Las Vegas Raiders offense.
Chances are, the Packers will not be landing a No. 1-caliber receiver, but that does not mean they can’t make a move somewhere that will improve their roster.
