The Green Bay Packers have a need at the wide receiver position looking ahead to the 2020 NFL Draft and many believe that they could target one in the first round. Even after signing Devin Funchess in free agency, the franchise needs to bring in more weapons for Aaron Rodgers.
It appears that they may have their eyes on a potential first-round wideout. According to reports, the Packers are showing more interest in Baylor wide receiver Denzel Mims and are scheduled to do a FaceTime interview with him in a few days.
Mims has been rising up draft boards dramatically over the past few weeks. He was an absolute star at the NFL Draft Combine. Getting him at No. 30 overall is a legitimate possibility for Brian Gutekunst and the Packers.
Last season with Baylor, Mims ended up catching 66 passes for 1,020 yards and 12 touchdowns. He averaged 15.5 yards per reception. Those numbers show major promise for a team like the Packers.
If Green Bay were to bring Mims in, he would play opposite of Davante Adams. There is a good chance that he would immediately become the No. 2 wideout for the Packers. Having a quarterback like Rodgers to start his career would be a major bonus for the talented receiver.
Standing in at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Mims brings great size, speed, and athleticism to the field. He ran a 4.38 40-yard dash at the combine.
Expect to see the Packers continue having interest in Mims leading up to the draft. He would be an ideal fit for them and it wouldn’t be shocking to see Green Bay take him at No. 30 if he’s available.
