REPORT: Pittsburgh Steelers Have Major Interest In Sleeper QB

The Pittsburgh Steelers need to find some clarity at the quarterback position this offseason. After a rough second season from Kenny Pickett, there is very little faith in town that he can be the franchise quarterback that he showed the promise of being. At the end of the 2023 season, Mike Tomlin and company felt that Mason Rudolph gave them a better chance to win than Pickett, which is very telling.

With that in mind, they’re going to be a very interesting team to watch this offseason. They could look to add a veteran quarterback or they could opt to pursue a young signal caller in the 2024 NFL Draft.

According to one source, they have major interest in one specific sleeper quarterback in the NFL Draft.

“From those I’ve talked with in Pittsburgh, Jordan Travis is a name to keep a close eye on. They’re very high on him. If he lasts to the third round, which it seems likely, the Steelers would likely jump at the opportunity to get him.”

Travis is coming off of a heartbreaking end to the 2023 college football season with the Florida State Seminoles. He went down with a season-ending leg injury and is currently rehabbing for the next step of his career.

During the 2023 season, Travis completed 63.9 percent of his passes for 2,756 yards, 20 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. He also racked up 176 yards and seven scores on the ground.

This could be a very smart move by the Steelers. Travis was a serious Heisman candidate prior to his injury and had led Florida State to being a top championship contender. If he can get back to full health, which shouldn’t be a problem, he could develop into a very strong starting NFL quarterback.

All of that being said, the Steelers have a lot of decisions to make. Is Kenny Pickett the guy or will they move on to find someone else? If they view the latter option as the best course of action, Travis could be a name to keep a close eye on.
