Week 3 was not exactly kind to Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints not only blew a 17-0 fourth-quarter lead in a defeat at hand of the Green Bay Packers, but they also lost starting quarterback Derek Carr to an injury in the third quarter.
On Monday, Saints head coach Dennis Allen provided an update on Carr, revealing that he has a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder and that he is week-to-week, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media. Carr has not been ruled out for New Orleans’ Week 4 divisional matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The injury occurred when Carr landed hard on his shoulder after a sack. He was on the ground for several minutes while trainers attended to him.

Through three games overall, the 32-year-old has thrown for 636 yards, two touchdowns and a couple of interceptions while completing 65.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 85.2.
Carr, who spent the first nine years of his NFL career with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, signed with the Saints this past March after being released by his former club.
The Fresno, Ca. native, who played his collegiate football at Fresno State, was originally selected by the Raiders in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Carr produced mixed results during his time with the Raiders, making four trips to the Pro Bowl but only leading the franchise to a pair of playoff appearances. In the first trip to the postseason, Carr was sidelined due to a broken leg he suffered late in the regular season. He then was present in Las Vegas’ playoff appearance two years ago, but lost in the Wild Card Round.
New Orleans is now 2-1 on the season.
