49ers’ Deebo Samuel Throws Shade At Eagles Before Super Bowl

Last winter, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated Deebo Samuel and the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game to advance to the Super Bowl.

This time around, Samuel and the 49ers will be playing for the championship, and the Eagles will be sitting home watching.

Samuel was asked about whether or not San Francisco has a rivalry with Philadelphia, and he responded by taking a shot at the NFC East club.

“I consider rivalries close games,” Samuel said, via EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer. “We ain’t going to talk about that no more. That’s over with.”

Samuel was of course referring to the Niners’ Week 13 beatdown of the Eagles earlier this season, when the 49ers won by a score of 42-19. The star wide out logged four catches for 116 yards and a couple of touchdowns in the blowout victory.

Last January, Philadelphia routed San Francisco in the NFC Title Game, but only did so after Brock Purdy went down with an elbow injury. Backup quarterback Josh Johnson was then injured, leaving the Niners without a signal-caller.

As a result, Samuel has consistently questioned the legitimacy of Philly’s win over this team last year, but now, Samuel can rest knowing that the 49ers are in the Super Bowl and the Eagles went out with a whimper.

In 15 games this season, Samuel caught 60 passes for 892 yards and seven touchdowns while also rushing for 225 yards and five scores.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of South Carolina, was selected by San Francisco in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

We’ll see what Deebo Samuel and the Niners have in store for the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.
