No. 2: How many games can this defense win?

For a few reasons, the offense won’t be putting up many points this year. If Seattle is going to win anything this year, it will come down to the defense.

Unfortunately, as we witnessed on Monday Night Football, the defense has crumbled a lot since 2017. On the other hand, there is a surplus of young talent. That starts with the Shaquill Griffin and Shaquem Griffin, adding in Tedric Thompson. Jarran Reed and Poona Ford for some help and depth in the front seven. If anything, there is some potential for this defense to succeed, especially when led by the elite linebacker, Bobby Wagner.

This defense will have to revolve around taking the ball away from its opponents. In reality, that’s the only way to make up for the struggling offense. The athleticism this defense possesses should aid it in pursuing this goal, an advantage to having a younger team.

If the Seahawks can do this, they will give their star quarterback a chance to win them games, something he has done before.

The Truth

Despite the wishes of fans, this defense will not be winning them many games this year.

The offensive line holds the offense back, Russell Wilson does not have what he needs to succeed, the run game has not appeared, and all of this just puts a strain on a defense. There is no winning formula in Seattle, and this could end up as the end of the road for head coach Pete Carroll. This team looks like it is in a lot of trouble.
