Seahawks Trade For Vikings’ Danielle Hunter In Bold Scenario

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Danielle Hunter is in the final year of his contract, meaning he may very well walk via free agency in the spring.

The Vikings are currently 0-2 on the season, most recently falling to the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 34-28 last Thursday.

Although Minnesota plays in a very winnable NFC North division, things are not looking too great for the club early on. If things continue heading south, the Vikings may end up deciding to move Hunter ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.

Should that scenario occur, the Seattle Seahawks could be a team that steps in to try and strike a deal.

The Seahawks are currently near the bottom of the league with just two sacks on the year, so their pass rush could definitely use a boost. Hunter could be the perfect antidote.

In order for Seattle to pry Hunter away from Minnesota, it could send a 2024 third-round draft pick as well as a sixth-rounder to the Vikes in exchange for Hunter’s services.

Hunter has looked dominant in the early stages of 2023, having already logged 15 tackles and a league-leading four sacks through two weeks.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was selected by the Vikings in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Hunter looked impressive right off the bat, posting 33 tackles and six sacks during his rookie campaign. He then broke out the following season, totaling 56 tackles, 12.5 sacks and a defensive touchdown.

After a rather mediocre 2017, Hunter bounced back to make his first trip to the Pro Bowl in 2018, racking up 72 tackles, 14.5 sacks and another defensive score. He posted similar numbers in 2019, finishing with 70 tackles, 14.5 sacks and three forced fumbles en route to another Pro Bowl appearance.

Overall, Hunter earned three Pro Bowl selections over the first eight years of his NFL career, most recently notching that honor in 2022 when he registered 65 stops and 10.5 sacks.

Danielle Hunter appears well on his way to landing a fourth Pro Bowl selection this season.
