The Pittsburgh Steelers have made some changes to the wide receiver position in the last few months, even going back to the 2022 season. They started ahead of the deadline when Chase Claypool was traded to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a second-round pick, which turned out to be No. 32 overall.

Earlier this offseason, the remodeling continued when Pittsburgh acquired Allen Robinson from the Los Angeles Rams in what was essentially a salary dump. Robinson is someone the Steelers have been interested in for a while and got him essentially for free.

Following minicamp practices last week, more changes have occurred. It has been reported that the Steelers released wide receiver Anthony Miller earlier this week. A move was hinted at by him on his social media, where he thanked the city he has spent the majority of the last two years.

Miller has been a part of the organization for parts of the last two seasons, going back and forth from the practice squad. Injuries have plagued him during his time with the Steelers, as he missed time during OTAs earlier this offseason. That followed up a 2022 season that was lost because of a shoulder injury in August.

He appeared in one regular season game during the 2021 season, catching one pass for two years. Miller didn’t appear in a game during the 2022 season and will now be looking for employment elsewhere around the league.

Buried on the depth chart in Pittsburgh, it isn’t too surprising that the team opted to move on from Miller. In addition to Robinson, the Steelers have Diontae Johnson and George Pickens atop their depth chart with 2022 fourth-round pick Calvin Austin III, veteran Myles Boykin and special teamer Gunner Olszewski behind them.

Originally a second-round pick of the Bears in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Memphis, Miller’s career got off to a hot start. He exploded onto the scene catching seven touchdowns in his rookie season. In Year 2, he took another step forward, catching 52 passes for 656 yards and two touchdowns.
