Buccaneers Predicted To Sign Superstar Running Back In 2024

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in desperate need of help at running back, as they rank 30th in the NFL in rushing offense this season.

The good news is that there will be numerous star halfbacks available this coming offseason, and Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay predicts that the Buccaneers will land one of the biggest names on the market.

Saquon Barkey.

Barkley is currently playing for the New York Giants and was unable to reach a long-term deal with the club going into the season. Many felt that the Giants could (and should) trade him at the deadline back at the end of October, but New York ultimately held on to him.

While there is certainly a chance that the Giants bring him back into the fold in the spring, it doesn’t seem very likely at this point.

As a result, Tampa Bay could certainly represent a very realistic destination for Barkley.

In nine games this season, Barkley has rushed for 697 yards and a touchdown while averaging 4.2 yards per carry. He has also logged 28 catches for 168 yards and four scores.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Penn State, was selected by New York with the second overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed a terrific rookie campaign, racking up 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns while registering five yards per tote. In addition, he hauled in 91 receptions for 721 yards and four scores. Barkley earned a trip to the Pro Bowl for his efforts.

Since then, however, Barkley has had difficulty staying healthy. When he has been on the field, he has been effective, but avoiding injuries has been a major issue for the two-time Pro Bowler.

We’ll see how much of an effect Saquon Barkley’s checkered injury history has on his negotiations with teams like the Buccaneers once free agency rolls around.
