Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis supplanted Ryan Tannehill as the team’s starter midway through this past season, and now, he has the job all to himself.

Titans general manager Ran Carthon spoke about Levis at the NFL Scouting Combine this week, and he is expecting the youngster to continue to improve.

“He spent the earlier part of the [2023] season as the inactive third, and then when he got his opportunity to play, he took off and ran with it,” Carthon said, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “So, for him, it’s continuing to get time on task, and especially now coming into a new offense, getting him in that, getting him knowledgeable of it.”

In nine starts this past year, Levis threw for 1,808 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 58.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 84.2. He missed two of his last three games due to a foot injury.

“And for Will, it’s about creating that consistency,” Carthon continued. “When he was at Kentucky, he had multiple offensive coordinators. I think he may have had the same offense maybe twice in his career. We want to be able to create that consistency for him, get him used to making calls, and get him to where he’s making all the calls and checks up front.”

Levis was selected by Tennessee in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. With Tannehill clearly declining, it seemed to be only a matter of time before Levis took the reins under center, but it happened more quickly than many anticipated.

We will see how Levis adjusts to a new offense with a new coaching staff next season, but it definitely seems like Carthon is looking forward to an impressive rookie from the second-year signal-caller.

The Titans went 6-11 this past season and have missed the playoffs each of the last two years.
