Count Tom Brady among those who believe that not considering Bill Belichick for a head coaching position would be a mistake.
The former New England Patriots quarterback is a strong advocate for his former coach, urging any team in search of a new head coach to seriously consider Belichick.
He spoke out about the matter and sent a bold message to teams around the NFL.
“I think the fire burns with him. He loves the sport, he loves the preparation. He’s been doing it for decades and in my mind there’s nobody better than him at it. Whoever gets him at some point is going to have in my opinion, the greatest coach ever. I know he’s as competitive as can be and he wants to be out there winning football games as a coach.”
Despite Brady’s endorsement, NFL teams do not seem to share the same sentiment, at least not at the moment. Bill Belichick did have two interviews with the Atlanta Falcons, but they ultimately chose to hire former Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.
No other NFL team has shown interest in interviewing Belichick for a head coaching role. With the Falcons no longer an option, it appears that there may not be a suitable landing spot for the highly accomplished coach, who has won six Super Bowl titles.
Although the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders currently have head coaching vacancies, it is not believed that they are considering Belichick as a potential candidate.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Bill Belichick following Tom Brady’s strong message.
