The New York Jets have a lot of expectations in the 2023 season, but it could be a very challenging start to the season.

2023 feels very different for the Jets. After years of struggles, they will have their eyes set on making the playoffs for the first time in a long time. The offseason was one of the biggest in the franchise’s history, as they brought in one of the best quarterbacks of all-time in Aaron Rodgers.

With Rodgers on the squad, the Jets have instantly become a contender on paper in the AFC after years of poor play from the quarterback position. When seeing the team being able to win seven games last season with mostly Zach Wilson struggling to move the ball on offense, it was easy to see why Rodgers wanted to come to the Jets.

Even though expectations for the Jets are now high and they have a very talented team, the possibility of the Jets struggling to start the season is very possible. With the AFC being a very challenging conference this season, and the AFC East being arguably the best division in football, easy wins could be hard to come by for the Jets.

NFL NEWS & RUMORS: New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers, & NFL Updates

To start the season, the Jets will be hosting the reigning AFC East Champions. Like the Jets, the Buffalo Bills have lofty expectations this season, which will surely be a tough first game for the new-look Jets.

Things don’t get much easier for the Jets after that, as in their first eight games, they will be playing 6 teams that made the playoffs last season. Also, the two teams during that stretch that didn’t make the playoffs last season are the New England Patriots, who beat the Jets twice last season, and the Denver Broncos, who are looking to bounce back with Sean Payton as their head coach now.

The Jets will certainly be tested early, as they will be playing both the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in the first eight games of the season. With these being the two teams who were in the Super Bowl last season, they will certainly see how they will fare against the best of the best.

NFL NEWS & RUMORS: New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers, & NFL Updates

While the schedule is tough for the Jets, they certainly have the talent to survive it and not let it ruin their season. In those challenging eight games to start the season, if the team can find a way to win four of them, they would be putting themselves in a great position for success in the 2023 season.

Since expectations are so high, the Jets will be closely watched this season. If things get off to a slow start in terms of wins, there could certainly be some panic from the fanbase and the organization. Hopefully, they can start the season somewhat strong and leave themselves some room for error in the second half of the season.
