Vikings Have Inquired About Potential Trade For Jerry Jeudy

The Minnesota Vikings are in the market for some wide receiver help this offseason. They have a star in Justin Jefferson, but the supporting cast around him is somewhat lacking currently. A big reason for that was that Minnesota released Adam Thielen earlier this offseason in a cap-saving move.

Thielen had been with the hometown Vikings since 2014 when he was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota State. He became an integral part of the offense in 2016 and had been up until his release.

With Thielen no longer in the mix, the Vikings are dangerously thin at wide receiver. K.J. Osborn came on as the No. 3 option in 2022 and could certainly take on a bigger role. But, after him, the next closest wide receiver in terms of production was Jalen Nailor, who caught nine passes in 15 games.

It would behoove the Vikings to add another weapon to their passing game to help take pressure off of Jefferson and Osborn. According to a former NFL executive that spoke to NFL Analysis Network, that is exactly what the team plans to do.

Who are they targeting? The former executive revealed that the Vikings are one of the teams that are in on Jerry Jeudy of the Denver Broncos.

“The Vikings are another team to add to the Jerry Jeudy trade talks. Minnesota clearly has interest in adding a wideout alongside Justin Jefferson and their interest in Jeudy is very real.”

Acquiring Jeudy from the Broncos will not be cheap. They recently said that there are no plans to trade any of their wide receivers, but if the Vikings, or any other team for that matter, present them with a strong offer, it will have to be strongly considered.

Jeudy is coming off of a career season in 2022 as one of the lone bright spots in what was an ugly season for the offense. Denver is reportedly seeking a first-round pick in exchange for the Alabama product, which the Vikings may very well be willing to pay. Most mock drafts have them selecting a wide receiver with the No. 23 overall pick anyway, so why not trade that to acquire a somewhat established talent?

While Jeudy hasn’t quite lived up to expectations yet, he showed just how good he could be last season. With improved, consistent quarterback play from Kirk Cousins and a star in Jefferson taking up so much attention, Jeudy could thrive as the No. 2 option in a high-octane offense.
