Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love may be young, but he is still the leader of the team, and therefore, there are expectations for him to guide the locker room in 2024.

This is especially the case after the Packers lost veteran leader Aaron Jones last month.

When speaking about the loss of Jones, head coach Matt LaFleur said Love will need to be the one to step in.

“Naturally, somebody’s going to have to step up,” LaFleur said, via Rob Demovksy of ESPN. “I talked to Jordan about this a little bit. He’s got a year under his belt as the starter, now I expect more out of him. I think we all do. I think he expects it out of himself, which is great. So guys like him are going to have to shoulder some of that leadership moving forward.”

Love, who played his collegiate football at Utah State, was selected by Green Bay with the 26th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He spent the first three seasons of his career as Aaron Rodgers’ backup, but last year, the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets, opening the door for Love to start.

Love went through some growing pains early on, but overall, he was fantastic, throwing for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 64.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 96.1. Over his last eight regular-season games, he totaled 18 touchdowns and one pick, leading Green Bay to a 6-2 record during that span.

What’s more, the 25-year-old propelled the Packers to a Wild Card Round playoff win over the Dallas Cowboys before ultimately falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.

LaFleur is anticipating that Love will grow from the loss to the 49ers.

“There were some tough lessons in that last game that I expect him to learn from, and I know he’ll do everything in his power to come back and be even better than he was last season,” LaFleur said.

We’ll see what Jordan Love and the Packers have in store for the NFC next year.
