It was a roller coaster week for quarterback Joshua Dobbs. He lost his starting job with the Arizona Cardinals after a Week 8 loss to the Baltimore Ravens as the team turned things over to Clayton Tune in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns.

But, Joshua Dobbs wasn’t destined to be a backup for long. Shortly after he was removed as the starter, the Cardinals traded him to the Minnesota Vikings ahead of the deadline. This would be the second time in just over two months the Tennessee product would have to receive a crash course in a new offense.

The Cardinals acquired Joshua Dobbs from the Browns after training camp and immediately made him their starter. He had under two weeks to prepare for that role; with the Vikings, he had four days to prepare for gameday, putting in a few extra hours on Friday night.

He didn’t start the game, as rookie Jalen Hall received the start, but Joshua Dobbs was pushed into duty very quickly. Things got off to a rocky start, as he took a safety early on, but he eventually settled in.

It resulted in arguably the most surprising victory of the week as the Vikings went on the road and defeated the Atlanta Falcons, 31-28. Joshua Dobbs finished the game completing 20-of-30 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns, adding 66 yards on seven rushes with another score.

After the game, Joshua Dobbs didn’t hold back when talking about the experience to Krista Pink of FOX Sports. He talked about staying as even-keel as possible to help get the most out of the situation.

“You just gotta accept your journey, man. Sometimes there’s a lot of highs, there’s a lot of lows. You stay right in the middle. You take it one day at a time. You’ll always be ready for whatever the journey throws at you,” Dobbs said to Pink.

With the victory, the Vikings have now won five games in a row. They are right in the thick of the NFC playoff picture at 5-4, despite having to overcome so many obstacles and injuries to key players.

Joshua Dobbs is likely going to be their starter going forward in place of the injured Kirk Cousins. He could be surrounded by a short-handed supporting cast for the next few weeks. Wide receiver K.J. Osborn and running back Cam Akers both got hurt in Week 9, potentially joining star wide receiver Justin Jefferson on the sidelines.
