Washington must look for wide receiver help following Kelvin Harmon injury

Washington has suffered a blow to their 2020 season before training camp even gets underway. Kelvin Harmon was expected to have a sizable role at the wide receiver position, but his season has ended before it began.

According to a report from Pro Football Talk, Harmon went down with a season-ending torn ACL while working out on his own preparing for the upcoming season.

Following the injury, Washington doesn’t have a ton of depth at wide receiver. Obviously, Terry McLaurin is their No. 1 wideout and that won’t be changing. But, they need more talent behind him.

Looking ahead at the upcoming season, Washington should look for help.

Currently, there are a few intriguing free agents that they could sign. Among them are Josh Gordon, Taylor Gabriel, and Terrelle Pryor. All three guys would be able to come in and play and important role for Washington.

Harmon is a tough loss for Washington. He was expected to end up being the No. 2 or No. 3 wideout on the depth chart.

Last season, Washington saw their rookie wide receiver catch 30 passes for 365 yards. He didn’t score a touchdown in his first NFL season. It was enough to give the franchise excitement about his development for year two.

Only time will tell how Washington bounces back from this injury. Signing a wide receiver seems much more likely at this point in time. Any of the three guys listed above would make a ton of sense and Antonio Brown’s name will undoubtedly come up as an option.

No matter how Washington chooses to respond to this injury, they need to bring in another weapon or two for second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

Expect to hear more news coming out of Washington in the near future. A new team name should be chosen soon and hopefully, they will find a good replacement for Kelvin Harmon as well.
