Both Jordan Love and Jalen Hurts are entering the NFL under some pretty controversial circumstances. For Love, the Green Bay Packers traded up for him in the first round, but with Aaron Rodger still on the roster with a handful of years seemingly left in the tank, the national media has given the organization nothing but slack since the selection.
For Hurts, no one was expecting the Philadelphia Eagles to take him, especially as early as the 53rd overall pick. Both Love and Hurts will enter their rookie campaigns as the clear backups for their teams, so expecting anything noteworthy out of either of these two early on in their careers is pretty unlikely.
Although, rumors have swirled that Hurts may see a Taysom Hill-esque role in Philly’s offense, at least in year one. How often he’ll be utilized in that role is yet to be seen, but he’ll certainly have a larger impact on his team than Love will early on.
In the long-term, Love unquestionably has the better chance for a more productive career. Not only because his situation in Green Bay will naturally lead to him starting at some point, but his skill set and raw talent has much more potential then Hurts.
