1 Team Already Seems To Have Dropped Out On Bears’ Justin Fields

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields could be on the trade block this offseason, and multiple potential suitors for the youngster have already been named.

However, one of the possible landing spots may have just disappeared.

The Las Vegas Raiders have long been viewed as a sensible destination for Fields, as they have a rather unstable situation under center heading into 2024 and don’t seem to be that far away from legitimately contending for a playoff berth otherwise.

That being said, the Raiders’ recent hire at offensive coordinator may have ruled them out.

Vic Tafur of The Athletic notes that by Las Vegas bringing in Luke Getsy to call plays, it essentially signals that the team does not have much interest in Fields.

Why? Because Getsy was the Bears’ offensive coordinator for the first three years of Fields’ career. This indicates that the Raiders did not think Getsy was the problem with Chicago’s offense.

Ergo, Las Vegas isn’t exactly enamored with the job Fields has done in the Windy City.

Now, did anyone within the Raiders organization specifically say this publicly? No, but the idea definitely makes sense. Why would Las Vegas hire Getsy if it thought that Fields has caught a raw deal with the Bears?

Fields made 13 starts this past season, missing four games due to a dislocated thumb. During his time on the field, he threw for 2,562 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 61.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 86.3. He also rushed for 657 yards and four scores.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Ohio State, was selected by Chicago with the 11th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Justin Fields has gone 10-28 as a starter with the Bears.
