2021 projections for Saints running back Alvin Kamara

NFL Analysis Network

Alvin Kamara and the New Orleans Saints are heading into the 2021 NFL season as a relatively unknown quantity in the NFC. After being viewed as Super Bowl contenders for years, Drew Brees’ retirement has made some question whether or not the franchise still has the firepower to be in contention for the big game. The Saints’ offensive situation is also something to monitor for Fantasy Football players.

In at quarterback will be Jameis Winston, who comes with mixed reviews among fans. Some believe that he could end up being a star, while others are expecting him to be a bust. Winston has shown a big arm capable of putting up big numbers in the past, but he has also thrown 30 interceptions in one season before as well.

Last season with the Saints, Kamara ended up putting together another impressive all-around season. He carried the football 187 times for 932 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also catching 83 passes for 756 yards and six scores.

To say that Kamara has become one of the most lethal offensive stars in the game would be an understatement. He has an argument for being the top dual-threat running back in the NFL. This season with the Saints, Kamara will be asked to take his game to the next level.

All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at what to expect from Alvin Kamara in 2021 with the Saints.

What To Expect From Alvin Kamara In 2021

Let’s start by taking a look at the Saints’ offense. With Winston at quarterback, that should open the door for more shots down the field. Brees struggled with arm strength over the last couple of years, but that will not be a problem for Winston.

Michael Thomas headlines the targets for Winston, with Tre’Quan Smith, Deonte Harris, Marquez Callaway, and Juwan Johnson also wide receiver options. At tight end, Jared Cook is gone and will be replaced by Adam Trautman.

Kamara is a running back, but he is also capable of playing like a wide receiver. With the lack of elite weapons that Winston has to work with, Sean Payton will look to get the football into Kamara’s hands as much as possible. New Orleans will look to get their superstar running back into space and allow him to break big plays.

With that in mind, we are projecting that Kamara will rack up 200 carries for 1,020 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. We are also predicting that he will catch 100 passes for 875 yards and six more scores. Those numbers are reasonable to expect from Kamara.

Expect to see Alvin Kamara end up being a Fantasy Football superstar once again, as usual. He will also be the piece, apart from Winston, that decides where the Saints will end up at the end of the year. If he can produce these numbers, New Orleans will once again have one of the league’s most high-powered offensive units.
