Will Lead the NFL in Carries Per Game
There wasn’t a player in the NFL that received more carries than Derrick Henry the 303 he posted last season. It became abundantly clear the center of the Titans’ offensive attack started with its star running back managing to set the tone as a ball carrier.
Perhaps most impressive of all is the fact that Henry played in 15 games and had less one outing to rack up numbers compared to other top running backs. There were some backs that weren’t far behind like Ezekiel Elliott (301) and Nick Chubb (298) but they each appeared in all 16 games.
Despite the Titans placing such a strong reliance in Henry to rush the ball, they still only totaled 445 attempts last season. They may have ranked just 10th in the NFL in this category but it’s partly because they achieved such strong results they were able to do more with fewer attempts.
Why try to fix something that isn’t broken? The Titans likely won’t look to mess with success and will continue to provide Henry with the highest volume of carries per game for a single player during the 2020 season.
