Continue to Become More Efficient

The improvement Courtland Sutton displayed from his rookie season was significant and for a variety of key reasons. Not only did he produce at a higher volume in a larger role, but he also became more efficient.

To put it into perspective, Sutton produced a 50.0 percent catch rate during his rookie campaign and raised it by 8.1 percent in 2019. His catch rate is still too low in comparison to the highest volume receivers.

The catch rate Sutton produced last season ranked higher than just Kenny Golladay (56.0 percent), DeVante Parker (56.3 percent), and Mike Evans (56.8 percent) among the NFL’s top 25 in total receiving yards.

Managing to produce a higher volume output is a great way for a young receiver to begin being among the league’s top receivers. The next step is to improve efficiency to separate from others and reaching a catch rate within a 60-62 percent threshold would be a start.
