3 edge rushers the Giants should still target in free agency

Markus Golden

Instead of looking elsewhere, why not sign the guy that was effective for you this past season? Last offseason, the Giants signed Markus Golden and he immediately became a disruptive force off of the edge.

In his first season starting in all 16 games, Golden accumulated 10 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, and 27 quarterback hits. For a team that finished 22nd in the NFL in sacks in 2019, Golden was definitely a bright spot for the Giants. Surprisingly enough, Golden was the first linebacker for the Giants to total 10 sacks in a season since Lawrence Taylor did so in 1990.

Following his stellar season in 2019, Golden was seeking to get a decent increase in salary on the open market. However, the former second-round pick evidently hasn’t gotten the offers he imagined of getting.

Maybe the reason why New York is hesitant to sign someone else is due to them waiting to see what happens with Golden. In the event that Golden continues to go unsigned, there’s a chance he chooses to return to the Giants in 2020.
