3 edge rushers the Giants should still target in free agency

Benson Mayowa

Some fans in the Big Apple may have had their sights on signing a guy like Jadeveon Clowney in free agency. However, after their spending spree to begin free agency, the Giants are left with nearly $15 million in cap space.

Taking that into account, New York is going to have to target some bargain players or a veteran that is willing to take less money. One cost-effective option for the Giants would be Benson Mayowa.

Mayowa spent the 2019 season with the Las Vegas Raiders, putting together a career-year for Jon Gruden’s squad. In his lone season with the Raiders, Mayowa tallied seven sacks and three forced fumbles.

Even though he was with the Raiders in 2019, the Giants are familiar with Mayowa, as he spent 2016-2017 with the Dallas Cowboys, recording six sacks in 2016. If New York doesn’t want to spend a fortune for an edge rusher, Mayowa is absolutely a viable option.
