2. The Packers’ Defense Has Some Work To Do
Za’Darius Smith and the Green Bay defense came into Week 1 with big goals. They wanted to make things difficult on the Vikings and force turnovers. While they got some of that done, there were too many drives where the Vikings were able to do anything they wanted.
Moving forward, the Packers have to figure out how to slow down the run better. Kenny Clark went down with a groin injury, which is a major concern, but the defense still needs to be better.
Jaire Alexander did come through with a big-time interception at the end of the first half and Smith himself recorded a sack. Christian Kirksey also looked good in his Packers’ debut with 12 total tackles.
If the defense can improve moving forward and the offense remains as potent as it was this week, the Packers are without question a Super Bowl contender.
