The Vikings’ CBs Still Have A Lot Of Work To Do
While it was a poor performance defensively for the Vikings, the corners were one unit that many expected to struggle. They had a lot of issues this week. The Packers’ receivers were giving Minnesota’s corners fits all game. Much of that was due to the excellent play of Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers often had a perfect placement on throws, putting the ball where only his receivers could get it. For instance, on this throw to Devante Adams, he only had a few inches to work with. However, Rodgers was able to find him in the end zone for the score.
Going up against one of the leagues’ best receivers and one of the league’s top corners to start off the season is a tough task. The fact that there was no preseason also does not help. Rodgers had a lot of time in the pocket, but these young corners must do a better job sticking with opposing wide receivers.
The Vikings’ two veteran safeties, Anthony Harris and Harrison Smith, will have to pick up the slack from these young corners. It may take a few weeks before Minnesota’s corners truly get a feel for the game.
