Down Field Target
Give your quarterback a deep threat. The league has become more dink-n-dunk lately with receivers catching five-yard passes and going the distance. The Colts completed 38 passes that traveled over 20+ yards or more in 2019. By adding a vertical threat like Cooper, his deep threat presence will open the middle of the field more for Hilton and TE Jack Doyle.
Depending on their QB next season, a core that features Cooper and Hilton should be one of the top five in the NFL passing yard. During the 2019 season with the Cowboys, Cooper averaged 15.1 yards per catch while Hilton averaged 11.1. Stretching the field will keep defenses honest. As good as Dak Prescott was at the beginning of the season, a huge part of that success was due to Cooper. Can he do the same for Jacoby Brissett or whoever the Colts put in the huddle next season?
