Aaron Rodgers has a lot of football left
The Packers are not urgently needing to find a successor to Aaron Rodgers because he still has plenty of high-level football left. As long as Green Bay wants him to stay for the remainder of his career and continues to surround him with talent, there’s little reason to past him already.
From a longevity standpoint, it only helps the Packers have improved its running game and Rodgers doesn’t have to shoulder an extreme load. For reference, he is coming off a season where he completed 353 of his 569 pass attempts (62.0% completion rate), 26 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
It’s important for the Packers to not get too caught up in planning for life after Rodgers to an extent that it hampers their ability to contend while he’s still playing. That’s especially the case when considering they are coming off a trip to the NFC Championship Game.
There are quarterbacks like Drew Brees (41) and Tom Brady (42) still playing at a high-level after 40. Rodgers still has years before he reaches that point in his career and there’s reason to believe he can still be quite effective when that time comes.
