Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings finally picked up their first victory of the season this past Sunday, but it came at the expense of the winless Carolina Panthers, so how much it actually means remains to be seen.

Trade speculation continues to swirl around Cousins, who is in the final year of his deal and could ultimately walk via free agency come springtime.

Scott Rogust of FanSided names the New York Jets, Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills as three teams that could potentially trade for Cousins.

While the Jets seem like a natural fit given the fact that they are currently rolling with Zach Wilson under center, the Rams and Bills picks come with caveats.

You wouldn’t expect Los Angeles nor Buffalo to have much interest in Cousins considering that Matthew Stafford and Josh Allen, respectively, are quarterbacking those clubs. However, Rogust is sure to specify that the Rams or Bills would only pursue Cousins in the event of an injury to either of their starting signal-callers.

That makes much more sense for Los Angeles, as Stafford missed eight games last season and is already dealing with a hip injury this year. In the case of Buffalo, Allen has mostly had a clean bill of health ever since entering the league in 2018.

Cousins cooled off a bit in Week 4, going 12-for-19 with 139 yards, two touchdowns and a couple of interception in his team’s 21-13 win. Prior to this past weekend, Cousins was on a historic pace. He still leads the NFL in completions and touchdowns, but he certainly didn’t look quite as good against the Panthers as he did the first three weeks.

The 35-year-old signed with Minnesota back in 2018 after spending the first six seasons of his career in Washington. Since joining the Vikings, Kirk Cousins has gone 47-36-1 as a starter. However, he has failed to lead the Vikings past the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
