3 Trade Targets The Eagles Must Pursue After Week 4

The Philadelphia Eagles continued their undefeated season this past weekend, topping the Washington Commanders by a score of 34-31 in overtime.

It’s been a strange first four weeks for the Eagles. Yes, they are 4-0, but you can’t help but think something isn’t quite right with the team, as they haven’t looked thoroughly impressive in any of their victories thus far.

Nevertheless, 4-0 is 4-0, and Philadelphia looks to be well on its way to another playoff appearance and, potentially, a second straight run to the Super Bowl.

Still, the Eagles likely won’t sit back on their laurels and not attempt to improve the roster ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline. They will surely try to do something.

Here are three trade targets for Philly to consider in the coming weeks.

Donte Jackson, Carolina Panthers

The Eagles could use some depth at cornerback and in their secondary in general after losing Avonte Maddox to a torn pectoral muscle, and Donte Jackson could represent a fine solution.

Jackson isn’t a star by any means, but he is a solid corner who still has another year left on his deal after this season. The Panthers are 0-4 and clearly aren’t going anywhere, so it would be surprising if they don’t decide to move some pieces between now and the end of the month.

The 28-year-old Jackson seems to be recovering nicely from the torn Achilles he suffered a year ago, as he has started all four games thus far in 2023. Is he an elite defensive back? No, but he would add some stability to a Philadelphia defensive backfield that could certainly use it.

Plus, Jackson likely would not be too costly, so Philly may be able to nab the veteran for an affordable deal.

Hunter Renfrow, Las Vegas Raiders

Yes, the Eagles have a dynamic wide receiver duo of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, but they could definitely use some depth behind those two.

What about Hunter Renfrow?

Renfrow has kind of been a forgotten man in the Raiders’ offense, as he has logged just five catches on seven targets through the first four games of the year.

While he isn’t exactly a downfield threat, Renfrow would provide Jalen Hurts with a sure-handed wide out on short and intermediate routes and would help further open up the field for Brown and Smith (not that they really need it).

Renfrow is a couple of years removed from a Pro Bowl season, so we know that he can produce when given the opportunity.

Budda Baker, Arizona Cardinals

Now for the pipe dream scenario.

What if the Eagles landed safety Budda Baker in a deal with the Cardinals?

Baker is currently on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury, but he is expected back later on in the year. He has a year left on his deal after this season, so it also wouldn’t be like Philadelphia would only be getting him as a rental for a few games.

When healthy, Baker is one of the best defensive backs in football, and at 27 years old, he still has a long road ahead of him.

Of course, it would require a hefty package from the Eagles to pry Baker away from Arizona, but the Cards are clearly about to enter rebuilding mode, and they may be open to moving Baker for the right return.

Baker would instantly shore up Philly’s problem at safety and would make an already scary defense that much more terrifying.
