4 burning questions surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason

4. Fournette’s Fifth-Year Option?

Leonard Fournette is coming off the best season of his career (1,152 rushing yards), as he also showed previously untapped chops as a receiver with 76 receptions on 100 targets.

But his injury history remains notable, and the Florida Times Union has suggested the Jaguars are not a lock to pick up Fournette’s fifth-year option for 2021. That would put them on the hook for $10.1 million guaranteed for injury, and with limited cap space devoting that much to a running back just might not be palatable.

Fournette will have an opportunity to show last season was not a mirage, then perhaps hit the open market in 2021. But the Jaguars have to make their decision on that fifth-year option by May, and the risk might be too much to take on.
