The Defense Still Has Even More Room To Improve
Let’s be honest, the 49ers’ defense is going to be even scarier in 2020. Granted, DeForest Buckner was a big part of the defense in 2019 and was traded to the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. However, the 49ers replaced him nicely by selecting Javon Kinlaw in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Nick Bosa still has plenty of room to grow after racking up nine sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and an interception as a rookie. Richard Sherman may be getting old, but he is still an elite cornerback.
San Francisco has the talent to be the top overall defense in the NFL. Even with the loss of Buckner, they are going to be scary. Many teams won’t be able to score consistently against them.
There are still some holes in the defense, especially behind Sherman at cornerback. The 49ers may have some flaws, but they are one of the most consistent all-around defenses in the league.
