4. Turnovers Were Costly For The Raiders
The Bills managed to put together an efficient performance on offense that featured not recording a single turnover. Meanwhile, the Raiders recorded a pair of turnovers and turned it over on downs on another possession.
Holding a 23-16 lead, the Bills forced a fumble and recovered it with 12:39 left in the game. This was a momentum-changing play that ultimately gave Buffalo’s offense strong starting field position— setting up a touchdown drive. All of a sudden, the Bills were up 30-16 with 11:17 left to play.
The Raiders failed to execute after getting the back facing a need to put more points on the board. They took 1:30 off the clock turning the ball over on downs. While the Bills had to punt after gaining possession, they took off another 2:27 from the clock.
The Raiders’ lack of execution continued and they wasted even more game clock by fumbling after going 40 yards up the field. Again, the Bills failed to score off another created possession, but running off even more time was all that was needed.
After failing to score on a trio of previous possessions, the Raiders finally found the end-zone with just 1:29 left in the game. That put them in an improbably position to pull off a win.
