1. Giants’ Offensive Line Has Regressed
The Giants’ offensive line has had some issues in the past. However, they seemed to be getting better in each of the last three years. So far, in the first two weeks of the season, New York’s offensive line has played terribly, and that’s troubling to see.
Although they have been facing very good defensive fronts, the Giants’ offensive line was supposed to be one of the strong points of this team. Instead, it has been the weakest link of a very underwhelming overall offensive unit.
Last week, the Giants had a very hard time running the football. This week, they were slightly better at run blocking but were still awful in pass protection. There were many times where Daniel Jones was running for his life in the backfield and was sacked four times as well. The Giants must do a better job protecting Jones.
Jones is an athletic quarterback and has potential, but behind an offensive line that can’t protect him, he will never be able to grow as a quarterback. The Giants’ schedule won’t be getting any easier from a pass rush perspective. The next four games for New York come against the 49ers, Rams, Cowboys, and Washington Football Team — all four teams with an excellent pass rush.
