1. Saints’ Offense Started Slow, But Caught Fire

The Saints began this game with a slow start on offense. On New Orleans’ opening drive, a Drew Brees pass was tipped by the defensive line— resulting in an interception. As a result of Brees’ interception, the Lions managed to go from a single possession lead to going up 14-0.

Immediately after ending their opening drive with a pick, the Saints pulled off consecutive 80-yard drives resulting in a touchdown. New Orleans took advantage of a favorable starting field position on another touchdown drive before halftime.

There was noticeable letup from the Saints’ offense after halftime as they added only seven points to the scoreboard. However, their hot streak in the opening half proved to be more than enough to get the win.

Overall, the Saints managed to record 392 total yards of offense and 29 1st downs. On top of that, New Orleans managed to go 10-of-14 (71.4%) on 3rd down conversions and was perfect on all four trips to the red-zone, all while recording just a single turnover.

It’s safe to say, the Saints had a very strong overall offensive outing in this game. There wasn’t perfect balance for when they made their impact, but overall, it was impressive.
