Ben Roethlisberger Will Struggle Early
The return of Ben Roethlisberger is a highly anticipated storyline to follow this season. The Steelers’ offense was nowhere near the high-level scoring machine fans have grown accustomed to last season. While it would be wonderful to see him return without losing a beat, it isn’t likely.
It may not have anything to do with Roethlisberger’s skill-set, we just truly don’t know how he will look come game day. What we do know is that he will be very nervous, as he stated he would be when speaking with Broke Pryor of ESPN.
While those nerves will surely dissipate as the season goes on, Roethlisberger may have some trouble shaking them off to start his Week 1 display. The best way to do that may be to try and hit some big plays early. However, there is a chance that those plays are a bit forced.
There’s a possibility that Roethlisberger could have lost some juice on his deep-ball after coming off a season-ending elbow injury. It could be an issue if he has to work through some rust early on since the Giants’ secondary has some sneaky talent.
It all starts with the fact that James Bradberry is a quality corner and will set the tone for the group. Meanwhile, Logan Ryan was a great late free agency addition to add depth. Jabrill Peppers is an athletic playmaker ready to make a splash this season. Overall, the defense will be able to capitalize on any early mistakes Roethlisberger makes.
