4. Joey Bosa Shows Why He Is DPOY
The 49ers’ defense has been outstanding this season. They are first in multiple statistics as they are the No. 1 overall defense in points and yardage allowed. Given how often teams are trailing in games, San Francisco does rank in the bottom half of the league in passing yardage but saying they are easy to beat through the air would be a mischaracterization.
Part of what makes them so dangerous against the pass is that they have a star pass rusher in Nick Bosa. Bosa is many people’s pick to win the Defensive Player of the Year award as he racked up a league-high 18.5 sacks this season.
Three of them came against the Seahawks this season and he will meet Geno Smith in the backfield more times on Saturday afternoon. Bosa will record multiple sacks in the game, showing why he deserves the hardware this season.
3. Kenneth Walker Has 100-Yard Game Streak Snapped
The best way for a road underdog to give themselves a chance to pull off the upset is by running the football. The Seahawks have found plenty of success this season doing that, led by rookie Kenneth Walker III.
Walker comes into the postseason on a hot streak, rushing for 100+ yards in three consecutive games. It wasn’t against slouches, either, as the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams are both in the top 10 of rushing defense and the Jets are 17th.
The Michigan State product has surpassed the 100-yard plateau in five out of his 11 starts this season, but his current streak will be snapped by the 49ers. San Francisco and their No. 2 ranked rushing defense will shut things down on the ground, holding Walker under 50 yards and putting the game on the arm of Geno Smith.
