The Cardinals Reach the Playoffs with Fitgerald Leading the Way

The Cardinals missed the playoffs the last two seasons. Last season, they suffered through horrendous injuries. Even so, they found a way to win eight games, including going 4-2 down the stretch.

This season, there’s been some upheaval. Head coach Bruce Arians and quarterback Carson Palmer are out due to retirement. In are Steve Wilks and Sam Bradford. Bradford, of course, is a bridge to the eventual leader, 2018 first-round draft pick (10th overall) Josh Rosen.

Additionally, David Johnson, Chandler Jones, and Patrick Peterson should be healthy this season. Yes, Bradford himself has a long history of injuries, but sitting down when he did last season in Minnesota was a great thing for him. He clearly tried to come back too soon from his injury and with Case Keenum taking off, Bradford could just sit and heal correctly.

As I said, Bradford is a bridge. For this season, however, I think he and Fitzgerald click. They’ve already done some good work during camp and I think that lasts into the regular season. There’ll be some nice connections between the two and with the other key players healthy, the Cardinals make a run and for the second Wild Card spot in the NFC.

Prediction: Cardinals go 10-6 and get the second Wild Card spot.
