Going into last season, there was chatter that the Arizona Cardinals could be preparing to move on from quarterback Kyler Murray.

Murray was coming off of a torn ACL, and he was one year removed from signing a massive five-year, $230.5 million contract extension that wasn’t producing satisfactory early returns.

However, the Cardinals have remained committed to Murray, and upon returning to the field during the second half of 2023, he displayed flashes of why Arizona took him with the No. 1 overall pick back in 2019 to begin with.

During a recent appearance on NFL Network, Cardinals tight end Trey McBride said he is looking forward to having a full season with Murray.

“It’s going to be awesome,” McBride said. “This is the first offseason I’ve really had with him. To be the athlete that he is, he’s a phenomenal player, a phenomenal athlete, and I’m super excited for what we can do in our third year together, so it’s going to be a lot of fun and to have this full offseason with him is going to be awesome.”

McBride, who played his collegiate football at Colorado State, was selected by Arizona in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

He played in 16 games during his rookie campaign and put forth modest production, logging 29 catches for 265 yards and a touchdown.

Then, this past year, McBride broke out, hauling in 81 receptions for 825 yards and three scores. The bulk of that production happened once Murray returned, and in December, McBride caught 30 passes.

We’ll see what McBride and Kyler Murray can do together in 2024.
