Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has had enough of the disrespect directed towards San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.
Despite prevailing opinions labeling Purdy as a “system” quarterback, Mayfield vehemently disagrees, dismissing such claims as baseless chatter.
“If you’re executing the system to what’s being called and what you’re being asked to do, you’re executing at a high level. That’s game-changing. If you’re able to do it consistently like Brock has done, that’s an elite level of quarterback play.”
Despite facing challenges throughout the season, Purdy has consistently delivered for the 49ers. His regular-season stats reflect this resilience, with an impressive 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns.
Moreover, his recent playoff performances have further solidified his prowess, having thrown two touchdowns in each of the two playoff games thus far.
As the 49ers prepare for the upcoming Super Bowl, Brock Purdy aims to culminate this remarkable season by leading his team to their first Super Bowl victory since the 1994-95 season. The highly anticipated showdown is scheduled for Sunday, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. ET.
For Baker Mayfield, he is set to hit free agency this offseason. Many believe he will be re-signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but other teams will have interest. He had a season that revitalized his career in 2023 and is set to cash in with a nice new contract.
