Jackson Is Part of the Ravens’ Youth Movement
The Baltimore Ravens are on a youth movement. They stockpiled draft picks over the years and now they’re using them. Over the past three drafts, they made 30 picks (12 in 2017, 7 in 2016, and 11 in 2015). With that many young players, who do you think they’ll respond to better, the grizzled old-school veteran or the guy who shares their likes and dislikes? The Ravens have a plethora of millennials and need a millennial to lead them.
Of course, Jackson needs to lead by example. He needs to put in the work so his teammates see he isn’t just talking the talk. If they see he’s truly about leading and putting in the work, his teammates will run through a brick wall for him.
The best way to keep a cohesive group on the team is to have them come up together. Have these kids work together and learn each other’s tendencies. That way, when they play on the field they can almost play with their eyes closed.
Being a millennial on a team filled with millennials, Jackson could also have as much, if not more, influence than even the coaching staff. Most coaches aren’t fluent in the way the young players talk or use technology. The Ravens are getting younger and they need one of their youngsters to lead the way.
